Transfer Road Famous Roti Canai (Penang Project Station 1)

I am so lucky and appreciate that I can be one of the food bloggers in this Project Penang food hunt event.
And this is a very good experience for us
to know more about Penang food including halal and non-halal food.
I really enjoyed this food hunt event, hope that the organiser will organise more on this kind of event.
Thanks for the sponsor - Project Penang!

Our first station which was also the place to have our breakfast is the famous Roti Canai in Penang,
or in another word we can said the Hottest Roti Canai in Penang.
This Roti Canai is located at the road side of Transfer Road.
Now why do we called it Transfer Road?
" Transfer Road is one of the major roads inGeorge Town, Penang. It runs from Burmah Road to Northam Road, and has a number of offshoots. Among the roads that branches off from Transfer Road are Phee Choon Road, Kedah Road, Dickens Street, Popus Lane, Dindings Road, Hutton Lane, Ariffin Road, Jalan Sekerat, Argyll Road and Sri Bahari Road.
Transfer Road was named to commemorate the transfer of the administration of the Straits Settlements from Madras to Singapore in 1867, given greater autonomy in the administration of the states. "

Not only can you enjoy the roti canani and teh tarik here,
one can also enjoy Malaysia's culture

"Teh tarik means the mixture is poured back and forth repeatedly between two vessels from a height, giving it a thick frothy top. This process cools the process fluid (tea) to optimal drinking temperatures, and helps to thoroughly mix the tea with the condensed milk."

Perak Road Charcoal Char Koay Teow (night)

Charcoal Char Koay Teow,
Full of fire, don't play play.
This uncle is friendly enough,
when he saw me taking photo,
he added more charcoal to make this pretty effect.

I ordered duck eggs and added extra prawns, cost RM 6.00
 Really worth it,
Fragrant of banana leave + flame of charcoal = Perfect Char Koay Teow

Ai Yu Bing ( 爱玉冰 - 噢桥 )

Ohqio ( 噢桥) or Ai Yu Bing (爱玉冰 ) is a tasty healty natural jelly. It's a famous dessert from Taiwan. But one can hardly get it from Penang food stall. Ai Yu is a kind of fig and its scientific name is Ficus pumila var. awkeotsang, a member of the fig family. The plant is sometimes grown in close proximity to Betel nut palms thus providing a tall trunk, which the fig uses as a support to climb.

The only stall that sells Ai Yu Bing in Penang.
But sometimes you can get it from Pasar Malam.

Afternoon : Opposite Chew Jetty together with Curry Mee and Laksa stall.
Night : Along the Chulia Street with the famous Wan Tan Mee and Curry Mee

The pure Ai Yu in the pail.

Perfect match with lemon and lychee.

Plus cold ice-blended and Ai Yu ........... HOJIAK!!!!!!!!!!!!

A refreshing dessert that keeps the fever away.

Penang Laksa (Jalan Perak)

Laksa is one of the famous food in Penang and you may find it hard to get it in other states. You may find it in states near Penang such as Kedah or Perak but sometimes the taste will be a bit different. In Penang, although we call it Penang Asam Laksa but different stalls have their own special taste.

Today, I would like to recommend one laksa stall which I've been eating since small. The taste is just superb for me!

Jalan Perak (Opposite S.R.J.K (c) Sum San)

They start their business at around 2pm ( They are still preparing)

It does not look very blackish and sticky.
Sweet , sour and spicy. NICE!

Friendly uncle and auntie. They were shy to take the picture :)

Golden City Famous Chinese Mee Goreng (槟城车水路金城茶餐室 )

Fried Indian Mee (Mee Goreng) are mostly Indian's strength. Opposite the previous Lai Lai Supermarket, one couple(Mr. & Mrs. Teh 郑德福夫妻) started their Mee Goreng business since 13 years back. This famous Chinese Mee Goreng are known by most of middle age people like my father / mother. Most youngsters seldom go for this kind of Traditional Coffee Shop, they will say nothing to eat in this kind of Coffee Shop because of the limited choices. But think twice, if you go to a Food Court offering many varieties but there's nothing good there, I would prefer to choose a quality food rather than quantity.
This couple learned this Special Mee Goreng skill from a famous Mee Goreng Stall in Kedah. The secret is using fresh ingredients, quick boil the noodle before frying and control the timing and fire. Without good skills and experiences, it's certainly hard to cook a delicious Mee Goreng.

Besides Mee Goreng, the Mee Rebus is also not bad. If you dislike yellow noodles , go for it's Fried Bee Hoon. It's as delicious as Mee Goreng.

Ho Jiak!!!

Operation Hours : 12:30pm - 12:30am (12 hours per day)

Penang Street hawker Food - Cafe 1997

1997 Kopitiam (Paya Terubong)

Nasi Lemak (Rice Cooked In Coconut milk) also known as National Dish of Malaysia. I like this Nasi Lemak very much because of the rich coconut milk taste together with the spicy curry gravy, it's heavenly! But this stall's operation time is a bit odd, it starts at 2pm (already finish my lunch time) to 7pm (dinner time). Usually I can only enjoy this Nasi Lemak during holiday.

RM 5 SharkFin Soup with lots of crab meats. (at night)

Crispy Roti Babi just RM 3 ( same stall as Sharkfin soup)

Chicken Congee (Kai Chok) side order with the Steam Chicken Thigh, its tender enough!

Deep Fried Noodle (Shan Mee)

A not bad Wan Tan Mee!
