One of the main ingredient, glutinous rice.
I used 500g of the Glutinous Rice,
and can make about 20 pieces of Pisang Pulut.
Need to soaked about 2 hours then  then washed and drained well.
then cook with 2 cups of Santan ( Coconut Milk)
can also add in knotted pandan leave (optional)
cook with your normal rice cooker,
but put less water let the glutinous rice sticky texture,
don't cook like Nasi Lemak way.
Add 1 1/2 TSP (Table Spoon) of salt.
And 3 TSP of Sugar

'Pisang Awak' is also known in Australia as
'Ducasse' and 'Kayinja' in Uganda
In Thailand it is known as kluai nam wa
(Thai:กล้วยน้ำว้า, IPA: [kluːəj nam waː]).
This type of banana is suitable for cooking purpose.

Clean the Banana Leaf and cut in small piece,
make sure can wrap the banana refer the next photo.
Steam the banana leaf to easy wrapping.

Cut half of the banana and wrap with the glutinous rice.

Due to don't have the string and try to not use the Raffia String.
so just wrap it like that.

Steam it about 20 -30 minutes.

Home Made Penang Style Sushi

Sushi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Japanese cuisine sushi (寿司, 鮨, 鮓?) is vinegar rice, usually topped with other ingredients, such as fish.

But we can put what we love in this vinegar rice. In this modern time, people like to talk about fusion, food also can cross over with different kinds of cuisine. The most important is we love the food we make and can accept it.

I used tuna fish, crabstick, eggs, luncheon meat and sausages the ingredients, but the sushi rice I still follow the traditional sushi rice recipe, it is cook using the Japanese rice, Japanese Vinegar and a bit of salt to taste.

Shark Fin Soup (煲仔翅)

It has been a long time since I last update my blog. I would still like to share my experience with all of you. Life has been quite busy lately. Blogging is something extra in my life, so I will not make myself tired while blogging, blogging should be very enjoyable. To those who are still regularly visiting my blog, I would like to thank you all from bottom of my heart. I appreciate it very much! THANK YOU!

It is not hard to make a Shark Fin Soup, but I'm not using real Shark Fin not just because it's expensive but also the matter of the sharks' populations which have declined by 90%. They cut of the fin and then throw the rest of the shark back into the sea because it has less value.

Sometimes I will put Japanese Tang Hoon (Glass Noodle), which looks like fake Shark Fin. The most important thing for this dish is the soup, some people will use chicken soup as base. As for me, I used instant method. Put dried squid head and some Oyster Sauce as soup base, and THE SECRET is to put Shao Xing Wine. (绍兴酒)
My friends always asked me how to make the soup as thick as the one served in restaurant. Well, it is simple and there are TWO METHODS. You can either use Water Chestnut Powder (马蹄粉) , but this Water Chestnut Powder is not easy to get in ordinary shop, or you can try Sweet Potato Flour (木薯粉) mix with Corn Flour (玉蜀黍粉).

After the soup thicken, you can mix with an egg, then serve with 賽螃蟹(Choy Pong Hai) (my previous post)

For sure must put few drops of Vinegar.

Any questions will be happily answered. :)

CNY Dish Recipe :賽螃蟹(Choy Pong Hai)

賽螃蟹(Choy Pong Hai) is a famous chinese dish that uses egg white to make it looks and tastes like crab meat, but we seldom heard it in Malaysia. There's a legend where one day the Qing Dynasty Empress Dowager Cixi wanted to eat crabs suddenly. They were far from the ocean, so there were no supply of crabs. An idea then came in. The chef used the egg white to produced a fake but alike and tasty crab meat. It was well loved by the Empress Dowager Cixi. This Shanghai-style dish was then spread and developed in China. If you are TVB fans and watched the 风凰四重奏 acted by Charmaine Sheh and Joe Ma, you should know this dish.

The main ingredients for this dish are eggs and fish meat.

You need to prepare 5 to 6 egg white depending on the eggs' size.
First, beat the egg white till fluffy.

To make it easier and cleaner, I used a pack of vegetarian fish meat instead of using the real fish meat.

Boil 2 salted egg york and mash it together with the fish meat.

Next, fast boil the broccoli for decoration purpose.

After preparing all the ingredients, heat up the oil (you need quite a lot of it). Then, pour in the egg white and stir it fast and even. After that, add in the mashed fish meat.
Cook for just one minute and it's ready to serve.

Tell you what, this 'Choy Pong Hai' tastes really really good and very similar to the real crab. Just imagine , by using only vegetarian fish meat, the taste was already superb. I guess it must have tasted even better using the real fish. Give this dish a try in this prosperity Chinese New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai :)
