Homemad Pulut Pisang Recipe (Glutinous Rice with Banana)


Pulut Pisang or Pulut Dakap. 

Pulut Pisang means glutinous rice with banana, it is a famous Nyonya dessert in Malaysia. 
You can find it easily in Penang's Kuih stall.
And some people call it Pulut Dakap or Romeo & Juliet,
because it tight 2 of the Pulut Pisang together, so romantic.

 One of the main ingredient, glutinous rice.
I used 500g of the Glutinous Rice, 
and can make about 20 pieces of Pisang Pulut.
Need to soaked about 2 hours then  then washed and drained well.
then cook with 2 cups of Santan ( Coconut Milk) 
 can also add in knotted pandan leave (optional)
cook with your normal rice cooker,
but put less water let the glutinous rice sticky texture,
don't cook like Nasi Lemak way.
Add 1 1/2 TSP (Table Spoon) of salt. 
And 3 TSP of Sugar
 


 'Pisang Awak' is also known in Australia as 
'Ducasse' and 'Kayinja' in Uganda
  In Thailand it is known as kluai nam wa 
(Thai:กล้วยน้ำว้า, IPA: [kluːəj nam waː]).
 This type of banana is suitable for cooking purpose.

Clean the Banana Leaf and cut in small piece,
make sure can wrap the banana refer the next photo.
Steam the banana leaf to easy wrapping.




 Cut half of the banana and wrap with the glutinous rice.


 Due to don't have the string and try to not use the Raffia String.
so just wrap it like that.

Steam it about 20 -30 minutes.

CNY Dish Recipe :賽螃蟹(Choy Pong Hai)


賽螃蟹(Choy Pong Hai) is a famous chinese dish that uses egg white to make it looks and tastes like crab meat, but we seldom heard it in Malaysia. There's a legend where one day the Qing Dynasty Empress Dowager Cixi wanted to eat crabs suddenly. They were far from the ocean, so there were no supply of crabs. An idea then came in. The chef used the egg white to produced a fake but alike and tasty crab meat. It was well loved by the Empress Dowager Cixi. This Shanghai-style dish was then spread and developed in China. If you are TVB fans and watched the 风凰四重奏 acted by Charmaine Sheh and Joe Ma, you should know this dish.

The main ingredients for this dish are eggs and fish meat.

You need to prepare 5 to 6 egg white depending on the eggs' size.
First, beat the egg white till fluffy.


To make it easier and cleaner, I used a pack of vegetarian fish meat instead of using the real fish meat.

Boil 2 salted egg york and mash it together with the fish meat.


Next, fast boil the broccoli for decoration purpose.


After preparing all the ingredients, heat up the oil (you need quite a lot of it). Then, pour in the egg white and stir it fast and even. After that, add in the mashed fish meat.
Cook for just one minute and it's ready to serve.

Tell you what, this 'Choy Pong Hai' tastes really really good and very similar to the real crab. Just imagine , by using only vegetarian fish meat, the taste was already superb. I guess it must have tasted even better using the real fish. Give this dish a try in this prosperity Chinese New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai :)

Vegetarian Recipe : Cheese Coated Chicken Plus Ham
This idea came from Chicken Cordon Blue, it also has chicken, cheese and ham. Because I do not have the skill to make Chicken Cordon Blue for vegetarian, so I make it easier and just deep fried the vegetarian chicken coated with a piece of cheedar cheese. Then I just put a vegetarian ham on it. Last but not least, to make it perfect, just add hot black pepper sauce on it. Yummy while the cheedar cheese melted. A pretty easy vegetarian western food ready to serve!

Tips : To make the broccoli look greenly, put some sugar while boiling.

Simple Vegetarian Pineapple Spaghetti Recipe


An idea pop up when I watched the TVB series "Shine On You". In this series, Ms Wong's son cooked Pineapple Spaghetti for her. It's called( 菠萝意粉) in Cantonese. It gave me an idea to cook Vegetarian Spaghetti.

All San Remo pasta is made from 100% Durum wheat. Durum wheat pasta has an attractive golden appearance and a superior cooking quality.I like thin regular Spaghetti, this delicious pasta has a rich taste of egg.

Tips :
- Add one or two table spoons of salt while boiling.

- Never rinse the pasta once it is drained as this will remove the starch.


First, cut the can pineapples into small cubes. Then fry them with margarine. They will produce a very good smell.

Chop the Vegetable Fish into very tiny pieces.

Fry the "FISH" together with the pineapples and some of the Tomato Puree.

Put a slice of Cheddar Cheese on top of the spaghetti before you serve it with the sauce.


A simple and delicious Vegetarian Pineapple Spaghetti is now ready to serve!
