 Char Koay Teow  Stir - Fried "Flat Rice Noodle"

Ingredient of Penang Version of Char Koay Teow must include bean sprouts, fresh cockles,
Garlic chives, eggs, and chinese sausage is an optional.
For Penang Lang this Char Kway Teow is all time favourite,
will take it on breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner or even supper. 




Excellent Cafe or called it Xin Ya Zhou in Chinese (新亚洲美食中心)
It is near to the Ayer Itam Penang Hill Round About,
 just opposite the CIMB bank (Ayer Itam Branch)



 I think a lot of Penang Nites will feel this couple face look very familiar.
They have been running this business for quite some time.

Home Cooked Recipe Sambal Petal with Egg





Simple Home Cooked Recipe

Buy blended chilli in the market (RM1.50)
Stir fry till fragrant the blended chilli
Add tamarind juice, salt and sugar to taste
Dump in petai and kaffir lime leaves
Cut the hard boil eggs into two
Arrange and serve the curry on top
Sprinkle kaffir lime leaves for decoration purpose

Simple Nyonya dish, the thick and hot gravy is good with rice.

Black Glutinous Rice Porridge Recipes



What is this?

Some people call it black sticky rice, black glutinous rice or sweet rice.
Chinese call it  黑糯米又叫作紫糯米或紫米.





How to cook Black Glutinous Rice Porridge (dessert)


1. Wash and clean the Black Glutinous Rice.
2. Soak the Black Glutinous Rice into the water about 2 hour.
3. Boil a pot of water together with Black Glutinous Rice, using medium heat about half an hour.
4. Put in pandan leave, dried longan and lotus seed, using small heat to cook for 2 hours. 
5. Optional using slow cooker will much more easier.
Slow Cooker

6. Coconut Milk diluted with bit of salt water.
7. Served with the coconut milk or Vanila Ice-Cream


An exotic dessert, simple and easy to make.

as this is a British colonial legacy shared by both our countries.

Perak Road Charcoal Char Koay Teow (night)


Charcoal Char Koay Teow, 
Full of fire, don't play play.
This uncle is friendly enough, 
when he saw me taking photo, 
he added more charcoal to make this pretty effect.


I ordered duck eggs and added extra prawns, cost RM 6.00
 Really worth it, 
Fragrant of banana leave + flame of charcoal = Perfect Char Koay Teow
